Ice cream, Marionettes & birthdays

The Stewart's from Gardena came by to visit us and see our new house last week. The brought the kids many treats including ice cream with waffle cones. They were really yummy so the kids were lucky to get any:). They have enjoyed eating ice cream cones outside!

Jillian, Carter & I went to a marionette show at our little library. We saw the story of the frog prince. It was all done by one guy who makes all the marionettes himself. It takes a few months to make each one and about a year to make an entire show. The kids really enjoyed the show and especially the twist at the end when the frog became a Prince & the Princess became a frog. It was a good lesson on being nice and unselfish. I have assured the children that they too will become frogs if they are selfish and unkind:).

Saturday night we celebrated by birthday. Last Tuesday (the actual day) we went out to dinner at Claim Jumper and then yesterday I got to request my birthday dinner & dessert for McKel to make. She made ham, mashed potatoes, peas & cream gravy. Shoo did coleslaw & then McKel made Boston Cream pie for my dessert. Since McKel is a fabulous cook everything was delicious! The adults enjoyed the cake & the kids got ice cream. No use wasting delicious cake on them when they are fine with ice cream.

More muesum fun

The muesum had some really cool areas set up for the kids to play in. Below is the grocery store, they also had a garage where they worked on a small car, an airport and a plumbing area. The kids loved these areas and spent a long time in each one.

The water & bubble tables were also a big hit with the kids.

They had an exhibit called grosology that was all about disgusting bodily functions and how they work. Jillian was a little disturbed by this room as you can tell by the way she has her hands up by her face in the pictures in there. The bottom left is the burping guy. You can read the title of the faucet one yourself.

The kids also really liked the frozen shadows room. It was a small dark room and they all lined up by the wall. There is a flash (like a camera), and then you step away to see you shadow on the wall. The shadows are displayed for a couple seconds then they fade and you can do it again. Jillian found the model within:). There were about a million other exhibits and pictures but I figured this was way more then you all wanted to see anyway so that will do.

Leid Discovery museum

We went to the Leid discovery museum a few weeks ago. The kids had a great time and it was nice to have Elise, Emmy & Mitch to help keep track of everyone. We played giant operation.

Were blown away in the hurrican simulation machine with winds up to 80mph.
And did some performing. They had a dress up area with a stage and Jillian had a great time performing. There was also a keroke type room where you could choose a song to sing along to. Jill sang the wheels on the bus & Mitchy sang the SpongeBob theme song because he is a huge SpongeBob fan, unlike myself:).

Jill's Pet

Jillian was sad to move from California to Vegas so in a moment of weakness Christian promised her she could get a cat once we were settled here. Well we are finally pretty settled and Jillian had not forgotten the promise so we went looking for a cat to adopt. We were not even allowed to look at the kittens because they don't adopt them out to family's with small children. After 2 hours of hanging out in a little room with about 20 different cats we decided on this one. Layla is our new cat. She was the most patient with the kids and liked lots of attention.

So far she has turned out to be a really good choice. She is really sweet, spends most of the time resting in the laundry room, and hasn't made a noise. She lets the kids pick her up and carry her around and Jill spends time hanging out with her in the laundry room. She also seems to like Christian and enjoyed snuggling up to him in a chair last night.

Trainor's visit

Lisa & fam came to visit this weekend to help us get our house in order and decorated. All 8 Trainors were able to come and we had lots of fun. The kids played Wii fit and Mitchy conducted a yoga session with Jill & Carter (top left). We watched movies, swam and shopped. Along with the fun we also got a lot done. We got most of our pictures on the walls, cleaned out and organized the garage & refilled it with boxes. Put curtains up in our bedroom, that match our new bed spread. Put in a new kitchen faucet. Rearranged the furniture. Jake put together 4 book shelves and one dresser. Completed the furniture in Jill's room by adding one of the book shelves and the dresser. Went to dinner at Outback & Coyotes. Played a game and stayed up too late every night. Celebrated Carter's 3rd birthday. Went to visit Aunt Vonda & Uncle Glen. I am sure there is more but that's all I can think of right now.

Lisa, Mark, Paige, Spence & Jake went home Sunday morning but we get to keep Mitchy, Elise & Emmy for 2 weeks. Mitch reads lots of books to the kids and runs around with them, Emmy feeds them and takes good care of them & Elise is food help and good company so we are very glad they are here.
