Sleepover

Carter has been asking to have a sleepover at Aunt Shaleeny's house for months. Christian always told Carter not until he was potty trained so as soon as that happened in January, he started begging to go on his sleepover. Well now that it is Spring break Shaleen invited the kids over for the sleepover!!!! They have been so excited for days! Carter told everyone that he got to have a sleepover & Jillian gets to go to the dentist for spring break (she goes on Friday morning).

I took the kids out this afternoon & we dyed Easter eggs & had a small hunt in the backyard. Then I got to leave all the screaming, running & fighting there and head home to a nice peaceful house. Christian & I went to a little Chinese place for dinner then over to Kohl's for some work essentials for Christian. We got home by 7:30 & the house seemed very empty. It may sound ridiculous but we miss the kids. I complain about the fighting, the noise & not listening but I definitely realize I would take that any day to not having them around. So thanks Shoo for the first date we have had in a long time but I am excited to come get the kids tomorrow:). I am sure you are excited for me to come get them too.

Yeah Jilly!!!!

Jillian has been learning lots of sight words in kindergarten. The teacher sent home the first list of 20 words in January and the children practiced them until they knew them. They are each tested individually based on when they are ready so they are all on different lists. There are 11 total.

Jillian struggled a bit with the first couple of lists but once she got the hang of it she progressed quickly through all 11 lists. She has been asking for a way to earn the Princess & the Frog so Christian told her on Tuesday night that when she passed off list 11 she could get her movie. She was working on list 9 at that time. She passed list 9 on Wednesday & got list 10 which she passed on Thursday & got list 11 which she passed today. That's 60 words in three days!!

I have her write each word and then I make two flash cards for each word. We sit around and play go fish with the words. This has been a really good way for her to learn them & not get too bored. Carter loves to play with us too so he now knows about 4 words from each of her lists, added bonus!

Boy was Jillian proud when she got home from school wearing her medal for passing all 11 lists!! Carter was very taken with it also & they took turns wearing it all day. She is always so good about sharing with him, thank goodness because he is really good at demanding that she does!!!

So guess what they watched for rest time today!

St. Patty's Day

We had a fun, low-key day. We found a few golden nuggets in the house which was very exciting for the kids, they made leprechaun traps in the backyard & I made green cupcakes for dessert. They were clearly a hit. Carter loved pulling faces with his green moustache.
